Preamplifier main boards




This High-End preamplifier is a small "all in one" module:

  • Integrated symmetrical +/-10V power supply (regular of toroidal trafo by choise)
  • Netfilter 0,6A on board
  • Location for optional symmetrical voltage regulator board
  • PCB mounted in/out connectors can be mounted directly on the board
  • IN/OUT buffer modules, line or balanced can be munted instead
  • Electronic switching circuit by relays with silver plated contacts
          -  Three inputs
          -  Two outputs, 1=internally, 2 = externally
  • Input/outputs by PCB/chassis line connectors or buffer modules (see below)
  • The volume (Attenuation.gain) can be controlled by
          -  a stereo logarithmic volume potentiometer (passive preamp) or
          -  an optional Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA, active preamp) module.
  • Optional MM/MC pre-preamplifier parts can be mounted (standard on + version)
  • One of our symmetrical voltage regulator modules can be mounted.
  • Output 2 can be muted by a relay.
  • One of our SB-frontpanel modules can be mounted where volume potmeter, selector switch and mute switch are mounted.
  • I.c.w. a VCA module also a digital dB reading (200mV module) can be mounted.  
  • Extra connections for on/off switch, power amp transformer and other electronics.
  • This module fits exactly in any MODU Galaxy 230x170mm (or deeper/larger) cabinet.

This classy preamplifier is based on a main "backbone" PCB, mainly only containing the in/out signaland power supply bus structure. In/out circuits, etc. are mounted to it. While doing so, all connections are made in shortest possible way.

  • 6x Inputs (line or balanced) are separate, buffered circuits with switching relay
  • 2x Outputs (line or balanced) are separate, buffered circuits with mute relay
  • Power Supply (by choise) is separated for optimal hum/noise figures
  • Direct mounting of a volume potentiometer or
  • Mounting position for an optional Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) board
  • One of our SB-frontpanel modules can be mounted where volume potmeter, selector switch and mute switches are mounted.
  • I.c.w. a VCA module also an digital dB reading (200mV module) can be mounted.
  • This module fits exactly in any MODU Slimline 330x170mm (or deeper/larger) cabinet.

Independant Preamplifier module based on Texas Instruments OPA2134 dual opamp.

In standard version (shown) supplied for a single gain/impedance setting

Optional we can supply it with
         - 16 impedance settings by SMD rotary selectors at the back
         - 16 gain settings by SMD rotary selectors at the back

Also optional is the choice of RIAA capacitor types
         -  Standard with MKS capacitors
         -  Styroflex 2% capacitors (shown)
         -  Mica 1% capacitors

This circuit is identical as on our Pre-230 and Pre-330 preamplifiers (incl. presets!)

Voltage Controlled Amplifier / buffer modules




The attenuation/gain is regulated by a quality IC.

  •    THAT 2162 Voltage Controlled Amplifier  SMD IC.
  •    Current driven output buffer (dual opamp IC). Even a Burson Dual fits !
  •    Controlled by a 0-5Vdc signal (gain -80 / +10dB) or
  •    Digital SPI data (gain -80 / +40dB, 8 bit, 256 steps).
  •    -80 - +40mV output for digital dB reading with cheap 200mV meter.
  •    Fits directly on all our preamplifier designs.



The attenuation/gain is regulated by two high quality IC's.

  •    Two THAT 2180 Voltage Controlled Amplifier SIL IC's .
  •    Current driven output buffer (dual opamp IC). Even a Burson Dual fits !
  •    Controlled by a 0-5Vdc signal ( gain -90 / +12dB) or
  •    Digital SPI data (gain -90 / +30dB. 10 bit, 1024 steps).
  •    -90 - +30mV output for digital dB reading with cheap 200mV meter.
  •    Fits directly on all our preamplifier designs.

       

The attenuation/gain is regulated by two special quality IC's.

  •    2x THAT 2181 Voltage Controlled Amplifier SMD IC's.
  •    Dual current driven output buffer IC's. Even Burson single's fits !
  •    Controlled by a 0-5Vdc signal (gain -90 / +12dB) or
  •    Digital SPI data (gain -90 / +30dB, 12 bit, 4096 steps).
  •    -90 - +30mV output for digital dB reading with cheap 200mV meter.
  •    Fits directly on all our preamplifier designs.
